MAMIDI KAYA PAPPU/MANGO DAL..IP WAY

Mamidi kaya pappu/Mango dal..In IP..

In my way..


Mango dal is a delicious tangy tasty dal which each and every one opts in warm rice with  a dallop of ghee..In IP it's too easy to cook,neatly done..Unlike pressure cooker..we will do it here now..
Materials..


  • Tur dal... 3/4 cup
  • Raw mango cubes...1 cup.. check the tangyness of mango
  • Green chillies..5 to 6
  • Salt..To taste
For seasoning..


  • Oil..3 to 4 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds..1 tsp
  • Jeera..1 tsp
  • Methi seeds..1/4 th tsp
  • Red chillies..5 to 6..Make slits.
  • Garlic flakes..5 to 6..Finely chopped(optional)
  • Curry leaves chop.1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder..1/4 tsp

Method...
  • Place washed tur dal along with mango cubes and green chilli slits in Instapot Insertor and add 2 cups water.

  • Set the instapot to 11 minutes manually,turning the vent to sealing position.



  • After cooking and beeping is done,leave for a while,so that the dal is steam cooked well. 

  •  Meanwhile prepare seasoning on stove top.Place a pan on stove,add 3 to 4 tbsp oil,after heating,add mustard, jeera and methi seeds and red chilli slits,and lastly curry leaves chop and garlic chop... Add all the tadka materials one by one and fry well.

 

  • Add the prepared tadka to the mango dal in ip,add salt,chilli levels and adjust tangy ness ..mix well.
  • Again manually set for 2 minutes.. and  cook in IP..

  • After done.. leave it for  5 minutes ,and remove out .by releasing pressure.. 
  • Mix well.. Transfer in to a bowl..Serve with warm rice and a dallop of ghee..

MANGO PULIHORA/ MANGO RICE

MAMIDIKAYA PULIHORA:Summer..being a season of mangoes,we can do this recipe instantly within half an hour.

    Materials:
  • Rice 2 cups
  • Grated raw mango-1cup
  • Salt to taste
Seasoning:
  • Oil 2 to 3 tbsps
  • Mustard seeds 1 spoon
  • Methi seeds1 pinch
  • Red chillies 2 to 3 nos (made into slits)
  • Urad dal 1 spoon
  • Channa daal 1 spoon
  • Cashewnuts or groundnuts-1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder a little
  • Hing a pinch
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Green chillies 5 to 6 nos -made in to slits
Method:
  • Pressure Cook rice first.The rice and water should be in the ratio of 1:2.
  • After done,let it cool.
  • Meanwhile,place a pan on the stove,add oil to it.After the oil is  heated, add channa daal,urad daal,ground nuts,redchilli slits,mustard seeds ,methi seeds etc. one by one ,saute well..let them fry to medium brown colour..
  • Lastly add green chilli slits,and curry leaves,then  switch it off,after 1 min,take care while frying the curry leaves,coz they will splutter.
  • Add the grated mamidikaya ,haldhi,and salt with the cooked rice, mix well according to your taste.If you want less sourness add less amount of grated mango,but if you want it more sour and tasty,add more qty of grated raw mangoto the cooked rice.
  • Lastly add the total seasoning to the rice.And mix it well.Mango pulihora tastes yummy.
TIP:
  • If you want to store it for a day i.e. both for supper and dinner also, then fry the grated mango in 1 tsp of oil for 5 mins in medium fire,saute well then switch it off.And after it turns cool then add into the rice.Like this it will retain for 1 day in indian atmosphere.
  • I prepare this atleast  once a week in the season of mangoes.

MAMIDIKAYA PAPPU/ MANGO DAAL

Maamidi kaya Pappu...

  • Maamidikaya ...(raw mango)peeled and  chopped..1 cup

 Adjust the tur dal quantity according to the sourness of the mango


  • Tur daal(kandi pappu) 2 cups
  • Green chillies..Slits of  6 to 7 no.s
  • Red chillies 3 nos
  • Curry Leaves..chopped
  • Hing or Garlic chopped finely
  • Mustard seeds ..1 tea spoon
  • Oil 2 spoons
  • Haldi a pinch
  • Salt to taste

Method:
  • Wash and Pressure cook Turdaal ,mash it and keep aside
  •  Place a Kadai add Oil to it.
  •  After its heated add all the seasoning materials Mustard seeds,Red  and Green chillie slits ,Hing or Garlic paste,and Curry leaves,saute it.
  •  Then add Raw Mango pieces, and water .Let it boil.
  •  Then after it is cooked, add the pressure cooked Daal, mix them according to your taste,  mash it and lastly add Salt .
  •  According to individual taste the Mango mixture and cooked Daal can be added along with salt.
  •  A good  combination is with fried Vadiyams and Majjiga Mirapakayalu

Mamidikaya pappu (with moong daal)

Pesarara pappu mamidikaya:
Procedure same as above but instead of tur dal we use moong dal.
